Timothy R. Barakett is the Chairman of TRB Advisors LP (“TRB”), a private investment firm. TRB invests directly in public and private markets, and provides capital and strategic support to a number of asset managers and specialty finance firms.

Prior to founding TRB in 2010, Mr. Barakett was the Founder, Chairman and CEO of Atticus Capital LP, a global investment management firm. Prior to founding Atticus in 1995, Mr. Barakett was a Managing Director at Junction Advisors, an investment management company specializing in risk arbitrage, and earlier in his career he was a Senior Associate at Battery Ventures, a venture capital firm.

Mr. Barakett is a Fellow of the Harvard Corporation, a member of the Executive Committee and a trustee of the Dalton School, and a member of the Board of Rethink Food NYC. Mr. Barakett also serves on Dean’s Advisory Boards at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Harvard University, the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and the Harvard Business School. In addition, Mr. Barakett serves on the Advisory Boards of numerous investment management companies and businesses.

 

Mr. Barakett is an honorary trustee of the New York Public Library, where he previously served as a trustee. Mr. Barakett also previously served as a trustee of The Mount Sinai Hospital and Continuum Health Partners.

 

Mr. Barakett and his wife, Michele, co-founded the Timothy and Michele Barakett Foundation, a private philanthropic foundation that supports social justice initiatives with an emphasis on those that promote equity and inclusion in the arts, education and healthcare fields.

Mr. Barakett received a B.A. degree in economics from Harvard in 1987 and an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School in 1993.
